Same Difference join us!

Hey all, Same Difference here!

Welcome to our weekly column. We can't believe that the new series is here already, we have had the best year EVER and X Factor made it all possible. We're so excited that we've been asked to give our opinion on this year's X Factor contestants. Having been there last year we can totally understand what they are going through.

Before we start, we'd like to say that we are loving the new X Factor judge. Cheryl is AMAZING and adds something very special to the show!

OK, here goes...

Starting with Phil 'Long Note' Blackwell. Whoa, that is some serious lung capacity. We thought he had a decent voice; it's just a shame that his second held note "wasn't as long" as his first, lol!

We never thought we would see anybody who could pull more crazy faces than we did in our first audition. That was until we saw Holly Jervis (the holiday camp singer). She is from the Isle of Wight, which is close to where we live in Portsmouth. They must put something in our water! We felt sorry for her because it's horrible when people claim you can't make your dreams a reality and Simon made that very clear to her!

In our whole time on The X Factor last year we worked our socks off to impress Louis Walsh, but failed miserably on several occasions. Now it seems that all we needed to do was bring him a rose and tell him we love him, just like Shirley Hough did! Aww, we think they would make a great couple.

In our opinion this week's show held many potential finalists. There are a lot of young hopefuls shining through especially Jade, 15 from South Shields, Liam, 14, who I (Sarah) think could be a little heartthrob, and our personal favourite Eoghan, 15, from County Derry in Northern Ireland. Owen reminds us of a singing version of George Samson, we loved his version of Tears in Heaven and it would be lovely to see someone from Northern Ireland in the final 12.

We also thought some other acts had star quality including the girl band who were aptly named 'Girlband'. I (Sean) thought they were gorgeous, and am glad that they made an effort to look good for their audition! We only heard a short clip of Marika Beckford, 20 but can't wait to hear more, and Alan, 23, from Barnsley made me (Sarah) cry. We believe Alan could be the ladies' favourite this year if he goes away and practices hard like Simon told him to.

Then finally came Alexandra Burke who is only 19. She was outstanding! She had the most unbelievable voice and made the hair stand up on the back of our necks. We love that she came back fighting and faced her demons. I (Sean) went for another reality TV show before I entered The X Factor so I know what it feels like to be turned away. For years after it really played on my mind. I'm so happy for her and we hope to see her in the final 12.

That's all for this week, folks! Keep an eye out for our weekly instalments. In the meantime take a look at our website www.samedifferenceworld.com to find out what we are up to now.

All our love,
Sarah and Sean

By the way, I saw SD at Butlins this year when I took my 2 little girls on holiday in Minehead.... I was a bit wary before the show, but I thought they were brilliant!!! Really good show, if a little short. Well Done guys!! Phill. x

However, if you are “indestructible” you take it all in good humour!!! Always believe in your sooooooooooooooul!!!! (No, it wasn’t as long, either!!!) ;D

Also, just in case anyone thinks I take myself seriously, I don’t. I love having a good laugh, and thought that the edit was really funny!!! They could have made me seem a lot worse in many ways, because you get interviewed so many times over 4-5 auditions that you are bound to say something silly or have a facial expression that can be exploited.

However, regarding "Gold", I'd like to point out that on the original track, Tony Hadley holds the note for 16 seconds, which kind of proves you can have long notes to end a song. Mine was excessive, but I was trying to prove that I had very good diaphragm control, etc.

No. The "Your Song" note was appalling, but then I'd never sang that song in my life before. It was just one that Simon pulled out of the air for me to do as an example. I didn't have time to prepare or choose the correct key, but to be honest, it wouldn't have mattered. Simon proved his point to some degree.

Hi all, i must say i enjoy watching the show every week but there never seems to be any rock/indie type contestants it all seems to be pop and R n B type stuff which is getting tad boring
