Judge mentors revealed...

28 Sep 08

The judges find out which group they have got...

The wait is over - the judges now know which category of artists they will mentor for the rest of the series.

It took 'til the very end of the second show - but at last, Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and newcomer Cheryl Cole have discovered who they will mentor from now 'til the end of the series. It also reveals who will meet at Judges' Houses next week.

This is where the famous foursome get as nervous as the contestants with Louis squirming in his seat and Simon saying, "They're calling me first, right!?"

Dannii told the cameras, "I want the girls!"

Louis said, "In an ideal world I'd like the groups or the boys. I don't want the Over 25's this year".

Desperate to get the girls' category, Cheryl worried, "If my phone rings now and they tell me I've got the Over's, this competition will be over because I don't see any point in going forward".

And Simon, despite recognising the talent, said, "The problem with the boys is that they are very young this year. I think I should get the girls category, because I know who the stars are in that category".

With three out of four judges wanting the girls on their side as the competition moved forward, the telephones started to ring and the categories were announced.

So here they are...

Dannii Minogue will mentor the Over 25's category (She cheered and squealed, "Thank you!")

Simon Cowell will take charge of the boys aged 14-24. He said, "I'm thrilled for them more than me".

Louis Walsh will mentor the Groups. He greeted the news, saying, "Oh good! I'm happy!"

And Cheryl Cole will mentor the 14-24 girls category. She was delighted, sighing, "I am a very happy judge right now..."

And then the serious business of calling each other to wind each other up about their chances of winning the overall show began...

Which judge do you think has the best chance of mentoring the winning act? And who puts the most effort into looking after their acts? Have your say below...

I think te judes will all o god this year, i think the best simo has are austin and alan =] i think Cheryl will do good with Diana, Amy and Laura, i dnt really like Anastacia. Rachel and Daniel are the best ones for Dannii i think they're both really great singers and both have passion for it. Louis should put JLS through cuz they're very sexy & i think Priority will do very good too =] I hope Simon puts; Alan, Austin & Mali through, i think they'll all do very good for him xD

The year i think the judges got the right choices for me. cheryal is in a girlband she knows what the girls need to do. lousi is a successful manger to a lot of boybands. simon has worked with a lot of male solo artists and danni will know what to do with the overs. cant wait till next week then its the live shows. so exicted

If i was in charge i would have gave: Simon - 25-Overs (Becasuse he hasn't had them since series 1) Cheryl- Girls (She knows how they feel, she is a girl and went through them same stages as them, however in the end they became a girl band) Dannii - Boys(To make it harder for her to win and to see if she could go far) Louis - Groups (Worked with loads of groups in his time, and he knows when he see's a good group)

I think Cheryl, Louis and Dannii could win even though Dannii is not my best judge, she is still good. I have to say Simon as not got a chance in hell of wining, and it is about time he gets a weak catogrie cause normally Sharon was given the rubbish acts to mentor.

i think simon will be the best for the boys especially as liam got into his category and simon fought really hard for him x

Yeh, I also agree that Dannii is a brilliant mentor. So Simon got the boys. Hmm, I'm not sure about him being a mentor. He made a few boo-boo's. Remember Hope? 'Nuff said.....

I like it, Tiger Minogue! Yeh, we didn't get to see the reaction of the contestants about who was their mentor. I think it's good that Louis got the groups and Cheryl got the young girls. I think she would've been better with the young boys though. Dannii will be such a good mentor whoever she gets. She is so professional. Go Dannii!
