Team Minogue in St Tropez

Meet Team Minogue

05 Oct 08

Dannii feels the heat in St Tropez...

Dannii woke up in her St Tropez mansion "absolutely convinced that I had made the right decision".

Ms Minogue and her aide Emma Bunton had spent the previous day listening to the Over 25s category sing for their chance to be a star.

Glamorous Louise Heatley, ex popster Suzie Furlonger and ex golf pro James Williams were hopeful. Said James; "Opportunities like this don't come around very often and I've tried to grab it with both hands".

Louise told the cameras, "The journey has been amazing. To go home and tell my kids that I've not got through would be too hard. I've got to do this for us all".

But unfortunately Dannii did not deliver good news.

She told James, "You gave us so much performance, charisma and good looks - but you're not going through".

To Louise she said, "You represent this competition so well, but yesterday wasn't such a great day for you. You haven't made it".

Also disappointed was ex 411er Suzie Furlonger, who'd said simply, "I'm really scared she's going to say no". And true to Suzie's foreboding, Dannii told her, "You're not going through".

While three Over 25s commiserated, three more were lost in celebrations. Ruth Lorenzo was told, "What we love about you is your emotion and your compassion but we're scared it is completely taking over you. We're worried that we need someone in the show who is going to be able to get through the show. Even so, you're in our final three".

Daniel Evans heard Dannii Minogue say, "What I need is the ability to move the audience - you saw I was moved when you performed yesterday. I also need to know if this guy is a star.  Is he the guy I see up there in the final show? You are. You're in my top three".

And Rachel Hylton, who'd fluffed her words during her performance of Christina Aguilera's Beautiful, also snapped up a final 12 place. Dannii told her, "What I love about you is your character, and your spirit, and most importantly your spontaneity.  Sometimes it crosses the line and gets out of control. I've had to weigh all of that up and I've made a decision. Rachel, you're in my top three".

And Rachel stood on the top the stairs at Dannii's villa and let out a huge scream. She grinned ear to ear and said decidedly,

"You get chances like this once maybe twice in a lifetime - I ain't messing this up!"

Going through to be mentored by Dannii Minogue in the Overs category are:

Daniel Evans, a 38 year-old dad-of-three from Essex, now living in Spain

Rachel Hylton, a 26 year-old mum-of-five from South East London

Ruth Lorenzo, a 25 year-old Spanish PR exec, now based in Surrey

OMG!!! HOW could Danni pick Daniel over Suzie!?! So glad to see so many others agree - I thought she was mad when I saw her decision. Suzie has the better voice by far. Such a shame.

OMG! Dannii what have you done??? Did you learn nothing from the Steve Brookstein fiasco? The public don't want an older man (even if you think he has the 'likeability' factor). Sorry to say this, but I don't care about his sad story...... the truth is he has a very mediocre voice thats best suited to working men's clubs. Sorry Dannii but you have a lot of hard work cut out for you if you want any chance of winning. On the plus side Ruth is fantastic!!!!!

My god Danni you have blown it Suzie was the best!!! Daniel is a nice guy with a very sad story but "very run of the mill" I would have definately bought Suzies albums....

Why, Oh Why, Danni?? Suzi is probably the strongest candidate you had, who would have without a doubt reached the final...

Again Dannii chooses a act wrong last year she choose andy and should have choose dominic and this year is the same. Ruth is talent and lovely but she hasn't got the x-factor, she should't have made it. Suzi was amazing and tried really, really hard and the public would have loved her, she should have made the top 3.

I thought Suzie had it all & I think Rachel needs to sort her attitude problem! Overall Danni prob has weaker group. Think Simon has the winner!

I agree with cantbelieve it in the three who should have gone through, James has a fab voice but we didn't get much chance to hear him, he has the looks, personality and charisma and most of all he can sing. suzie looks fab and sings great.
