Hey All!
Wow what an amazing first live show! Before the opening credits had even rolled up we were sick to the stomach with nerves. All our memories of this time last year came flooding back to us and we felt genuine anxiety for the contestants and their families.
As the judges walked through those doors we recalled watching it from backstage last year, only one thing was different, Cheryl Cole had replaced Sharon and she got the most incredible welcome from the crowd. We were so pleased for her as she must have been petrified, but it didn’t show and she relaxed nicely into her new job!
We felt that the best performances came from the people who were confident and didn't let the stress of the night overtake them. This reflected in Rachel's performance - she looked like a true professional. Her carefree attitude was a delight to watch in a night that was overshadowed by nerves. This was the first time that we have seen Rachel’s true personality and we have to say... We Loved Her! As Dannii rightly admitted it was a wrong song choice for her but if she can wow the crowd with a bad choice what will she perform like when given the perfect song? Her victory dance when she went through had us rolling with laughter. Well Done Rachel!!
Eoghan gave a very mature performance. Imagine is such a tough song to portray and he really did it justice. He reminds us a bit of Gareth Gates when he was in Pop Idol or a British version of American Idol’s David Archuleta. He has a massive appeal and we expect to see him challenging for a place in the final.
Girlband had the difficult job of going on first. It is hard to sustain the public vote as they forget what happened at the beginning of the show. This is why we think they were in the bottom two. We loved that they carried on our tradition of the invisible phones when pleading for votes - it made us giggle! We thought that they really deserved a second shot as their performance of That’s What Friends Are For showed their togetherness and determination. Simon was really harsh when he said they were Girls Aloud rejects. How can they be compared to a band that has been established for years!?
Our Pick of the Week was Alexandra! She stepped out of her comfort zone to sing an up-tempo song and looked just as competent. She has natural rhythm and managed to dance and sing at the same time. Her vocals were flawless and she had real class. But beware Alexandra... now you have proven you can dance Brian Friedman is going to be in his element, in weeks to come you'll be doing twists, turns and jazz hands! We cant wait! Hehe!!
Simon got a little hot under the collar when stunning Ruth Lorenzo took to the stage. When he admitted to fancying Ruth I (Sean) knew that there would be no chance for me with her anymore. I’m devastated.... but at least I would remember her name!
It has been proven this week that song choices can make or break a performance. The claws were out, once again, between Louis and Simon over Scott Bruton. We think that given his bad song choice he really gave a good, confident performance. I (Sarah) loved it when he was winking (at me) down the camera lens! Haha! When it came to the last three to be selected for next week we were both screaming "Scott, Scott, Scott" at the TV and a massive cheer erupted in or house when he made it through! He deserved that second chance and Simon has promised that he won’t make the same mistake next week!
Overall we loved watching the show and we can’t wait for The Michael Jackson Week! If it was up to us we would like to sing Heal the World, with a kids’ choir, bubbles and lots of puppies.
In the meantime we are heading to LA for our video shoot so check out our website www.samedifferenceworld.com to see how we get on!
All Our Love
Sarah and Sean
