Smile for Diana
25 Oct 08
Perched on an ethereal swing descending from the heavens, Diana looked as if she had been teleported straight from the bottom of a magical garden up on to The X Factor stage.
Wearing a shimmering white dress with matching beret, the Lancashire lass, who had been a bundle of nerves leading up to the Big Band show, appeared calm and collected as she sung the swing classic Smile.
With her trademark bare feet and quirky hand gestures Diana glided through the song with the apparent ease that she assumes week, in week out.
The audience exploded into fits of applause when the performance was over, shouting and hollering their approval. Then it was the judges turn to praise the softly spoken 17-year old from Blackburn.
“I love your little girl voice,” smiled Louis: “That was incredible!”
Dannii concurred, adding that Diana’s costume and set were “stunning”.
Simon was thrilled by the way she managed to make a 60-year old song sound current, stating: “There is something special about you Diana, that was brilliant.”
“You were mesmerising!” Cheryl beamed: “I couldn’t take my eyes off you.”
Will Diana be swinging through to the next round after that performance?
