Exit interview: Scott
26 Oct 08
After last night’s shock exit from the show, many would have forgiven Scott Bruton for feeling down in the dumps the morning after. But when we caught up with him early on Sunday morning he was bright-eyed, and bushy-tailed, and looking forward to his future.
How are you feeling this morning, Scott?
I’m obviously disappointed to be out of the competition, but I’m feeling alright. There’s no resentment, I don’t feel bitter towards anybody, someone had to go and unfortunately it turned out to be me.
How would you describe your X Factor experience?
Well it’s been emotional. Very emotional! It’s been scary at times, but overall I’ve had fun. Lots and lots of fun! A fantastic experience.
What has been your best moment?
There are two moments that spring to mind. The best was probably when I was in Barbados and Simon told me I had made his final three, that was such an amazing feeling. The second would probably be getting through my very first audition, that was special because my whole X Factor journey started there.
Do you have any regrets?
Absolutely no regrets. I wish everyone in the competition the very best; the reason I’m here today is that Daniel pulled an amazing performance out of the bag, fair play to him, and good luck to everyone. I always said I wouldn’t change as a person and I haven’t, it’s just made me stronger.
What will you miss most about the show?
Probably Eoghan! He’s become my best mate and we had such a laugh together. I’ll miss being in the house, messing about with everyone, and of course getting up on that stage on a Saturday night.
Who do you hope wins the show?
I hope it’s either Eoghan or Laura, but I think Alexandra may just pip Laura to it. I’ve never seen a more dynamic performer than her – she is incredible.
What’s next for Scott Bruton?
There are so many things! I think I’m going to go into the studio and work on an album, but I’m also really interested in going into the West End, a couple of people have enquired about me and it’s an opportunity I’d jump at. The X Factor was never about fame and riches for me, I wanted a career out of it, and I think it’s given me the platform to go out and get one.
