Rachel Hylton

Louis was 'Rotten and underhand'.

23 Nov 08

Rachel defends herself and her mentor.

A distraught Rachel joins the war of words over the Rule The World song choice.

Last night, Louis' insistence that the Over 25's had stolen a JLS song choice had Dannii Minogue in floods of tears.

Contestant - now former contestant - Rachel Hylton had to take to the stage amid the high drama and sing the track which had caused all the fuss. Dannii insisted, with Simon's backing, that she had every right to use let Rachel sing Rule The World.

Now Ms Hylton, emotional after last night's decision, is standing up for herself, her song, and her mentor.

She told us, "The song came to me under the right circumstances and to say otherwise is rotten and underhand".

"If you're last on the list, you're last on the rota. Louis needs to understand that. That was just disgusting to me".

The argument that JLS had prior claim to the track because they'd previously rehearsed it, also fell on deaf ears. Said Rachel "Everybody knows you don't rehearse a song unless you're sure you have it. Why were the boys rehearsing the song? I don't know".

And when Louis pulled second-on-the-rota Cheryl into the war by saying she'd said she could have it, Rachel wasn't impressed. She told us, "It's not Cheryl's song to give to Louis".

Rachel was most hurt, however, about what she saw was a personal snub after the show. She revealed, "He had the audacity to tell me, 'It wasn't about you, Rachel - but my boys are the nicest, most decent boys'".

"And I was like; well does that mean I'm not nice and decent? What are you trying to say about me?"

The whole personal disputes between the judges is very entertaining, but i just think there's a time and place for it all. Louis really needs to stop messin up JLS as well, coz they can sing, but the songs Louis provide them dont show off their talent enough

To be completely honest i think louis was pretty out of order, but i think that both acts should have been able to sing the song, because well if they think they will be best at that song then they need to show off their best not their second best! so louis no you shouldnt have made dannii cry but i think she shouldnt have had too, its a competition not the end of the world, both acts could have easily sung the same song.

Is it just me or does anyone else think it seems to be fair game for the rest of the judges to repeatedly make sarcastic comments and personal put downs to Louis but its not ok for him to retaliate! Danni is a great judge and mentor but come on this is the cut throat business of the music industry - theres no room for tears and over reacting.

I think that Danni was a good mentor and cared about all her acts, but I don't think the creative chemistry was right between them. Simon would have been able to bring the best out of Rachel because I feel he was one of the few people there who understood her.

I don't think Dannii over-reacted to Louis. What bothers me more is that the squabbles between the judges totally takes every from what should always be the focus - the contestants. Louis wonders why his acts don't win - its simple Louis, you spend so much time being unduly negative to other acts when things don't go your way - it isn't your acts that get themselves voted out, its your attitude. If you don't have anything positive to say, fine, but your negativity is ridiculous at times.

I dont think she did over react, who knows what else had been said off screen previous to them coming on show, sometimes just one thing tips the balance of other stuff

Louis is hilarious! But whilst I feel sorry for Dannii being made to feel like that, does anyone agree she may have over-reacted. I would like to thank the judges for finally voting Rachel off!
