Hallelujah! Alexandra makes chart history!

15 Dec 08

Alexandra breaks records

She won The X Factor less than 48 hours ago - but Alexandra Burke has already made chart history.

Following the digital download release of her winner's single on Saturday night, Alexandra's version of Hallelujah has become the fastest selling digital download ever - eclipsing the record previously set by our own Leona Lewis.

Alexandra's Hallelujah has been downloaded more than 80,000 times already - outselling the previous fastest-selling single, Leona's cover of Snowpatrol's Run, (itself released after its' X Factor outing), which sold 69,244 in two days.

Our victor was speechless when ITN newscaster Katie Derham broke the news to her live this lunchtime.

Her response? "What? Wow! Really. Wow. WOW! (and other words like that)".

Well done Alexandra!

Thought Alex was great singing Hallelujah until I heard Rufus Wainrights version. My god it is so soft it gave me goosebumps. Jeff Buckleys is good too, seemingly it has been rereleased, but doesnt compare to Rufus's

Has anyone commented on the fact that each week particularly last few weeks - - When Dermot read out results he says " In no particular order" . Yet apart from when they were in bottom 2 , he read out JLS first each week. I thought this a bit unfair on the other Contestants - especially with a Group having each other as support . Is Dermot able to respond?

Could I just point out that the 'report as offensive' applies to offensive language, inappropriate language etc. It is not for when someone disagrees with your point and is putting forward their own!! We live in a democracy with free speech! Wake up!

I prefer Diana Vickers singing it as well.
