Eoghan: Runner-up interview
18 Dec 08
Eoghan - he came third!
We caught up with Eoghan just after he was announced as the X Factor's second runner-up. Here's what everyone's favourite Irishman had to say...
It's all over, Eoghan - how do you feel?
I'm in good spirits. Coming third in The X Factor doesn't happen every day. I'm still happy and I'm excited. It's been incredible for me, I loved every minute, and I would not have changed it.
What was your favourite performance of the show?
My favourite performance was when I sang with Boyzone. I absolutely loved it. Those guys were great and they inspired me to do well in the music business,
It was a bit of an Irish extravaganza tonight!
Yeah, Westlife were there as well they are an amazing band as well. I can't believe I have met all these people.
What's next for you?
I'm not sure. I'm going home for Christmas, and then if anyone approaches us - I don't know. Then there's the live tour of course. And from then on who knows?
The Irish leg of the X Factor tour will be the one to see for your fans.
I know I've just been told that the Belfast Odyssey is sold out, I've never played there, all the big bands play there, and I can't wait. That one will be special.
Who did you want to win, out of the remaining two?
If I'm honest I wanted JLS to win. I know Alex would do well in any case because she is a superstar. But then...
Alex was crowned winner. How did you feel?
I also wanted Alex to win as well because she was put out three years ago. She took it, she corrected everything and she came back and she nailed it. I am so happy for her.
Has she got what it takes to make it big?
Absolutely. I'm just so glad to have had the chance to meet her and know her and we'll be able to look back and say we knew her before she was a global superstar. I'm gonna say - 'Alexandra Burke - I've sung beside her on The X Factor stage'.
The X Factor has been your life for months - it will be strange!
I know! When you think about it you go home on Saturday night after the show the first thing you think about is your routining for the next week there is always something to do next - but not now. This is going to be weird.
Have you spoken to Simon since?
I think I am going to speak to him later. But we had a word - he was disappointed I was third and he thought I was going to be in the finale.
Was it worth all of your hard work?
Uh-huh, definitely, I've had a really enjoyable evening and, in the whole series, an amazing time. It has been everything I hoped for - and more.
