With cracking performances aplenty, last night’s show was certainly one to remember, so it was with high expectations that we sat down to watch the results of the most nail-biting cliff hanger since last year’s final.
Whose performance had the great British public picking up their phones? Who would be singing for survival? All was to be revealed, but before that a treat was in store in the form of a certain pop colossus.
As the judges were introduced it was soon clear that only three would be appearing. Louis was unable to attend due to the tragic sudden death of Stephen Gately. After a touching tribute from Simon the show continued.
We’ve seen all 12 acts perform individually, but never together and before one was ejected from the competition the gang gathered on stage to perform an upbeat version of I Gotta Feeling. It seemed the last 24 hours of nerve-racking waiting certainly hadn’t phased our finalists as they frolicked together on stage.
Making a triumphant return to the show as reigning champion was pop’s latest princess Alexandra Burke with her new single Bad Boys. Surrounded by an army of dancers and with a surprise appearance from Flo Rida, the London lass delivered a high-energy , high-class performance and proved without a doubt that she deserves her title.
From pop’s new princess to its king, next up was the exclusive we’ve all been waiting for. As Mr Robbie Williams took to the stage to perform his comeback single Bodies, the atmosphere in the studio was electric. Of course he went on to show the budding pop stars watching exactly how it’s done.
Next it was time to float back to reality as Dermot announced the closure of the voting lines… the moment of truth was nearly upon us.

Alex did sing live actually. Obviously she couldn't have a live band but she sang over the music track. It is impossible for her to sing her backing vocals so that was her recorded voice on that, hence she didn't try to mime over it, if you understand what I mean. I work in the music industry but you can ask anyone if you like. I thought Robbie was alrightish, give him a break!

Loved Alex's performance Shame she didnt sing live but ecxcused as I know shes capable! Robbies comeback welcomed but not his song & we all thought he looked a little under the influence...!? Rock on Jamie. Sack the twins for all our sakes, tho its good for the entertainment factor - but NOT for the X Factor! Isnt that wot its all about!?

I really like Robbie Williams, yet I am not so sure about today's performance. I am thinking if this had been delivered by one of the final 12... he/she would have not got a standing ovation from the judges for sure!

im sure alexandra did sing live! well the majority of her song was sung live except for the parts she was dancing brilliantly to! john and edward are still in! YEHOO! danyl? omg the bit he sang in i gotta feeling! :S what went on there?

i am annoyed that the twins are still in! have we all forgiven and forgotten them for ruining the ppl they were on stage with at bootcamp chances! they r to cocky n ignorrant, ppl blame their age, buts its their personality! agree with danni and cheryls commenst about kandy rain, they had their opertunity to change the 30 second public opinion of them and they completly blew it! hopefully the nation will see sense and vote john and edward out b4 the good acts suffer!!

Cant believe the twins got through,and I really really cant believe that Ollie was in the bottom 3. Ollie has bags of talent and defo got the X Factor. More dancing please Ollie.

Please could somebody employ a hair stylist CAPABLE of dealing with rachael's hair. Her styling in the VT is atrocious and I am not alone when I say this! To add insult to injury, they tried to re-create this look tonight! People,X-Factor, Danni, ITV - FIX UP! Rachael is young, fresh, urban and sassy this should translate through her look. If you need inspiration- just look at Rhianna. Her hair cut is identical (HELLO!). You are doing her a great disservice, she is beautiful.

We all make mistakes, say stupid things and sometimes hurt people but it's the way you handle your actions. Well done Danni, you may not have upset Danyl but you upset the public and you acknowledged that. Louis, our harts are with you, Simon it was nice to see you stand by Danni for a change instead of you publicy treating dear little cheryl like the teachers pet. Makes me wanna puke! It's like the Simon and Cheryl show. As for the singers, all fab but Raechel should no way have been in bottom
