Stacey may have wowed the judges with her angelic voice, but for three weeks it’s seemed as if the Essex lovely has been surgically attached to her mic stand.
The 21-year-old has belted out some amazing ballads, all with both her feet planted firmly to the floor and not a shimmy or a shake in sight. It was no surprise then when Simon’s comments last week focused on her motionless performance.
“You’ve got to learn some performance skills, because all you’re doing at the moment is standing in the middle and you’re not doing anything else… week after week.”
So this weekend it was time for some drastic action. Yes, this week Stacey walked! We caught up with the mum of one before her performance to find out how she was dealing with stepping out of her comfort zone.
“I’m excited… I mean I’ve gotta move and I’m not a great mover but it’s not a dance routine it’s just simple stage movement. One foot in front of the other… in heels! But it’s not easy you know,” said Stacey, with her trademark smile beaming.
“Hopefully I can get one step up!”
And after Saturday’s performance, which had her moving from sitting down, to standing up, to lo and behold walking, it sounded to us like she’d climbed a whole staircase in Simon’s eyes.
“It was like an X Factor miracle today… you walked,” commented the media mogul.
“I think it was a good choice of song. I think it made you relevant. I thought it was terrific.”
Well, as Stacey might say... what a transformation! Just add in a couple more moves with each show and hopefully surviving each week should be a walk in the park!
So having overcome her nerves and stepped up to the challenge, how is our queen of multitasking feeling after cruising through to the halfway point?
“I’m really excited! I’m loving every second of this. Every time I get through it’s just the best. Any Sunday it could be over, so I may as well be happy!”
That’s what we like to hear! Looks like there’ll be no sob stories from the Solomon camp… she’ll be taking next week’s challenge all in her stride and with a smile on her face!
