27-year-old Danyl has been teaching for a number of years and absolutely loves it, but has another passion - singing. To have confidence is a good thing during an audition, but to own the stage at the first audition is surely fantastic.

Absolutley AMAZING!! I'm sorry but Cheryls heart melted at this audition and she has been trying to rein it back in ever since, hence the harsh words since then! You are BIGGER than this show break free and show us what your made of boy!! LOVE YA!

This is more of what we should be seeing from Danyl. This is AMAZING!!!!!! I agree with some of the other comments on here, he's energy has been brought down a peg for fear of coming across as 'cocky' yet that is what made him stand out on this 1st audition. He's is BRILLIANT !!!!! Please bring the old Danyl back!!!

i wish they would let him do something more like this in the live shows rather than just ballad after ballad. he was so amazing here and i want to see him dance :) the judges have stripped him down so much

My heart sinks at the fact that he has all this engergy but has been reduced to singing slow love ballads so not to be "cocky." Cheryl you need to grow up, acsept that hes more talented than you and let him peform. Singing ledgends have talent or "cockyness to Cheryl." Let it out.

wow, still knocks my socks off when i watch this!! I'd never been an Xfactor follower until i saw this - Danyl, you won me over! But I agree with hat775y and i4talent - he hasn't had the opportunity to REALLY shine since, although i think his Purple Rain performance was pretty dam cool. He's a unique talent and i don't think the commercialism of XFactor does justice to performers like him - whatever happens though, I'm sure he's got a great future, and i for one will be buying his records ;-)

Every time I watch this I am INCENSED at how he hasn't been allowed to be this good in the live shows. I hope to goodness that Simon is gonna step it up for Danyl and let him show everyone again how good he is. There aren't many weeks left and he NEEDS to put in a performance like this to make the public realise he HAS to win!! Go Danyl. If you taught my kids I would DEFINATELY be on the PTA!! xx

I can think of many songs that would suit his voice and his style - he just isn't being given any of them to perform. He is a one-off and is very marketable (long term, not in the hyped Jedward sense) but not manufacturable - thank goodness!
