Wham week!18 Nov 09
Bouffant hair? Check. Leather jacket? Check. Stonewash jeans? Check. Impossible to reach high notes? Check… it could only be Wham week!
This Saturday night our finalists will be embracing the decade that gave us the poodle perm, fingerless gloves and shoulder pads to perform some classic hits from one of the biggest duos of the era.
With hits such as Club Tropicana, Careless Whisper and the Wham! Rap, plus pop legend George Michael’s back catalogue to choose from, we’re sure this live show will be a pure pop fest!
Get ready to don your favourite leg warmers and dance around your living room people!... Or is that just us?

Without a doubt Joe McElderrry has a fantastic voice. There is quite a bit about the sound of his voice that is similar in quality to Neil Sedaka. I have thought this for the entire series. Dont know if anybody else has had the same thought.

OMG!!! I cant believe some of the comments I have read here. Clearly these are people who know absolutely nothing about music. George Michael is one of the most talented singer/songwriters to grace the earth and has had almost 50 hit singles over the past 29 years. To describe him as "not that special" is appauling. Go to one of his outstanding live shows and then make that comment!! George, you are the best - we love you :o)

Those of you who are complaining about the choice of music that was picked sound like a bunch of cry babies. Were you living in a closet your whole lives? George Michael is one of the biggest stars in the world. Also one of the most talented as well. Open your minds a little.

WHY. WHY. WHY. These themes are SOOO outdated!!!! Queen week, that was good. But you really are pushing it with Wham/George Michael week,. George Michael isn't that special. What happened to Michael Jackson week? My generation make up the majority of viewers and voters and almost every song will be new to them. COME UP WITH A WEEK THAT WE CAN ACTUALLY RELATE TO!!! I'm scared for Lloyd :(

Joe to nail it again this week with a faultless performance. I'm old enough to remember Wham the first time round and I have to agree with some of you its a strange choice as they don't have many songs to their credit. Its hardly challenging their singing ability! The producers need to treat each act the same - no favouritism shown to the twins with all the distractions so we don't hear their appalling voices. I bet if Leona was in it this year she'd be p'd off too. Bring back the singing PLEASE

What is up with these out-dated themes?? I think Lloyd put it quite well when he said last week..."Queen?..to be honest i didn't even know who they were!!"...They'r making 16,18,20 year olds all do songs that they probably haven't even heard of!! When will they realise that most of the people voting on these shows are youngsters who wanna hear new, contemporary music..by people who THEY grew up listening to...not their parents!!

WHAM! Did they have enough hits to allow all the finalist's to sing one each or are they going to do duets? DEADWOOD TO RAP again then?

At the first audition most acts were asked what do you think you will be doing in five years' time. Valid point. Can these acts sustain their fan base for that long. Experience shows they need a follow up. Recall, the ace crit was always "one trick pony". Well fans, how about your fave? Will it all wear off? Only you know. Most of these acts will do well to last two years. Sad.

personnally i love george micheal but as youngsters tend to make up a big percentage of the voting viewers they will probably be hearing these songs for the first time and this could really throw the vote,i was really taken with the mellow tone of lloyds voice in the sing off ,hope he gets something that lets that through, a different corner or careless whisper perhaps and not something cheesy
