Ay-may-zing duets, epic guest performances and a history-changing X Factor win - yep, it's fair to say it's been a vintage 2011 Final. Here's what the papers made of it all...

In the press this week

What a breath-taking, X Factor history-making Final! Little Mix became the first ever girl band to win The X Factor, One Direction and JLS joined forces to sing as a super boyband AND then there were the productions. Motorbikes, gospel choirs, jack-in-the-box entrances, we saw the lot.

We’re still absorbing all the dazzling detail of the weekend’s Wembley Arena Final, but now it’s time to see what the Press had to say...

The Papers and blogs are as chuffed as we are that Little Mix won The X Factor 2011.

The Telegraph said: ‘I'm delighted they won - they've been among the best two or three acts every week, seem likeable girls, a proper little gang and have a nice urban, contemporary edge.'

Digital Spy said: 'Congrats to the Little Muffins. They deserved it.' While The Mirror said: 'The main reason that Little Mix won was that they were, in the end, the best,' adding: 'Little Mix victory seems to mean that girls have stopped hating girlbands.'

Heatworld said: 'The girl group beat Marcus Collins at the final hurdle, nabbing the majority of the votes. Whoop! Amazing! Yay!'

But smiley, soulful Marcus is most definitely a worthy runner-up, with the papers applauding him and predicting big things. The Telegraph said: 'Marcus Collins was gallant and gracious in defeat,' adding, 'You can't deny the guy's got a bit of soul in those big pipes.'

While Heatworld said: 'Marcus will nab his very own record deal anyway so we’ll be seeing him again soon (as Gary declared on the show).'

And finally, it appears Kelly and Tulisa’s dazzling X Factor Final outfits have been outdone ... by Louis! Digital Spy said: ‘I'm rather enjoying Louis Walsh's velvet dinner jacket,' and the Telegraph noted: 'how Louis Walsh has got his "Christmas suit" on.'

Well, well Louis, it looks like velvet is your look!
