Ah, lucky us. Last year’s X Factor champ, Matt Cardle, just called to tell us why he thinks this series is the best yet. Under discussion were his recent encounter with Kitty, his on-going K-Row crush and why he wasn’t surprised to see Misha B go. Oh, and did we mention he misses Johnny...
Sooo, what did you make of last night’s elimination?
To be honest, I wasn’t surprised to see Misha B leave the competition. The public had their say and you can’t argue with that. However, she is mega-talented and surely has a big future ahead of her as a recording artist.
Who would you like to win?
It’s gotta be Marcus, he’s the man! That guy’s a sensational singer with a snazzy sense of style. I’m also partial to the lovely Amelia too…
Anyone you miss?
Johnny Robinson, without a doubt! Who doesn’t love Johnny? He was such good fun and always looked to be really enjoying himself. I’d be so happy to see him do well off the back of The X Factor.
How did you feel about Amelia coming back?
It was fair. I felt she was robbed in the first week. She 100% deserves to be in the Final.
You championed Kitty earlier on...
I did and still do. She seems lovely and actually quite grounded.
Who is your favourite mentor?
Kelly, she has such a good heart and is massively fit. Blimey, did you see Kellz in those hot-pants last night? Smoking hot!
Overall, what have you made of this year's X Factor?
It’s been one of the best yet. I’ve loved the controversy and twists and turns.
Looking forward to the Final?
Yup – I can’t wait to catch up with Johnny and see the home-comings. That was my favourite part when I was on the show last year. And here's an exclusive, did you also know I used to down a shot of booze for Dutch courage every week before the results were announced? It calmed my nerves, man!
No, we didn’t! What are your plans for Xmas then?
Well, I’ll be preparing for the tour. It’s gonna be wicked and I’ve been so pleased with the amazing response to Starlight. That video was such a laugh to film – it was one big party.
And finally, any advice to this year’s winner-to-be?
Yes, write lots. If you’ve not written your own lyrics before, give it a bash. It’s so satisfying and really adds to the authenticity of a song. Oh, and good luck everyone – you all deserve to be in the final three.
