Dermot: 'It's all about raw talent this year'
Hurrah! Dermot is on hand again this year to cheer on the contestants and offer a shoulder to cry on when things get tough.
The TV totty told us: 'There’s a different feel to The X Factor this year. Contestants are turning up with a really strong sense of their own identity; they’re not looking to be moulded. I love the new Judging panel. Nicole oozes charisma and beauty. She’s interesting because she has spikes and sass too.'
He’ll also be presiding over the new judging panel - Louis, Gary, Tulisa and Nicole every Saturday night during the live shows. A television institution, Dermot got his first big break at T4 and went on to present shedloads of shows for the BBC and Channel 4, most notably on Big Brother's Little Brother which showcased the presenter’s talents at dealing with the public, and live TV.
One of the most down-to-earth stars you’ll ever meet – he is brilliant at putting nervous contestants at ease with his brilliant banter, legendary hugs and high-fives!
Dermot is also musically well-versed and knows his stuff – perfect for when you’re hosting the UK’s most popular talent contest.
When not presenting, he can be found manning the decks every Saturday afternoon on The Dermot O’Leary Show over at BBC Radio2. Impressively, he won a prestigious Sony Radio Award for ‘Best Music Programme’ in 2008. Well done, D!
Quite possibly the most handsome man in TV, the presenter landed the coveted role of hosting The X Factor in 2007 and has since become a firm favourite amongst loyal viewers. Put simply, Dermot is The X Factor and it’s hard to imagine the show without him.
