Louis Walsh: ‘I’m in it to win it’
Louis Walsh has returned for a record-breaking ninth year on The X Factor Judging panel. As the undisputed king of Irish pop, Louis has masterminded the careers of Boyzone, Westlife, Girls Aloud and err, Jedward. Just kidding, we love that pesky pair.
As a returning Judge, Louis is confident he’ll do well this year. He revealed: ‘I’m on fighting form. It’d be great to win. My protégées Jedward and JLS have been phenomenally successful since appearing on The X Factor and I’m hoping to repeat those successes this year.’
How did it all start? Well, Louis began his career working in a music manager’s office in Dublin. Keen to create his own version of Take That, Louis advertised for open auditions in newspapers, resulting in the Irish pop phenomenon that is Boyzone. To date, the group have sold in excess of 12 million records worldwide. Wow, just wow.
Clearly on a roll, the music maestro went on to manage the careers of Westlife and Ronan Keaton respectively. Talk about luck of the Irish!
With series 9 only a few days away, so many questions remain. Who will be Louis’ sparring partner this year? Will he characteristically try and spark up some rivalry between the Judges? And will he find this year’s Wagner? *Gulp*
Wanna know who his favourite Guest Judge was? ‘It had to be Mel B – I loved her honesty and fire. I liked Geri too; she was brilliantly bonkers.’
