The X Factor live shows begin!

11 Oct 08

Girlband must overcome anxiety to perform first...

At last! The X Factor live finals are here.

We've waited for the big night to come, and we've waited for the football to finish. Then, with Dermot onstage and the judges in place, The X Factor Live shows began with a glitzy show opener - step forward, Girlband!

Finding it difficult to cope with the pressures of preparing for the live shows, the ladies in Girlband argued during vocal coaching, becoming increasingly on edge.  They told us on VT , "We have to put everything into the performance. If we don't well be going home and we'll only have ourselves to blame".

But once up on the stage, Girlband provided a great show-opener. Singing Bananarama's Venus, they bounded on stage. With four male 'bouncer' dancers and a red carpet theme, they glammed it up in jewel coloured satin and blasted The X Factor into 2008.

The judges were impressed. Dannii said, "I think that's the campest opening we had to this show - I'm not sure it was Brian or Louis but it was great".

And although Simon called them "A bunch of Girls Aloud rejects," Mentor Louis was happy. "He told them "You are as good as any Girlband out there. You look like stars".

With this week's performance out of the way, Girlband have nothing else to do but wait and worry. There's a lot of pressure involved. But have they done enough to impress the public, or will their meltdown in vocal rehearsals prove a costly mistake?

Who won the battle of the girl groups - Bad Lashes or Girlband? Have your say below...

watched the show and wanted to throw something at the tv when Simon, Louis and Dannii all said "I'm going to win!!" sorry, but are you actually singing? no it's your act is, so it's them that will. Cheryl was the only one who had the grace to say "We're gonna win." good on ya Chezza!!!
