Bad Lashes are out!

11 Oct 08

The North East group's journey has ended before it's even begun!

The first X Factor live show of the series has just finished, and for the desperately disappointed group, the journey is already over.

The Bad Lashes gals moved into the X Factor house just two weeks ago, but after renditions of It Must've Been Love and survival song Wonderwall failed to live up to the expectations of the Great British public, the girls are the first contenders to be ousted in the live studio shows.

The public vote result meant that it the final battle would be between the shows two girl groups - Girlband and Bad Lashes.

It was then down to the act's all-important survival song to decide the overall result.

Bristol-based Girlband picked the Dionne Warwick track That's What Friends Are For, in the hope that sticking together would bring 'em the lifeline they so badly needed. They performed it well and its message was poignant and fitting.

And North-east gals Bad Lashes chose to perform the Oasis song Wonderwall to save their bacon. The girls gave it their all but perhaps the emotion showed just a little too much.

Simon's verdict was, "I thought they were both shocking. But the band I am sending home is Bad Lashes".

Cheryl voted for Girlband, although she told both groups she had a lot of respect for them.

Danni said "The act I will send home is Girlband."

And to force deadlock, Louis voted for Bad Lashes, leaving the judges' vote even. The result was therefore decided by public vote. The public sent home Bad Lashes.

Groups mentor Louis Walsh must take stock after two of his three acts found themselves faring badly in the vital public vote. Louis said "They're two very good groups, that's why I picked them".

"I am devastated for the girls they had so much more to give".

Bad Lashes are obviously terribly disappointed to be leaving the party so soon.

But making it to the final twelve contenders from the 182,000 applications is no mean feat.

In the end it was just too much for Bad Lashes...

...and now just eleven acts remain in the competition to sing again next week.

I think Bad Lashes had more to give but didnt get the right advise from their mentor. Think Girl Band should have gone.

I think this was the right result as I didn't like their performance. Girl Band are much better then them!

I think neither of the girl groups should have been bottom, what I find funny is that on ITV2 before the results, Emma Bunton said it would be great if the two girl bands were at the bottom to fight it out (sounds like a big ole fix to me), and Simon said to Louie to just wait and see who was the bottom two. There were other acts who definately didnt deserve to have gone through.

I can't believe Louis didn't make a choice ... I know they were both his act, however he should have voted for the group that, in my opinion, were both vocally and technically better!!! Bad Lashes should have stayed, I believe with time their nerves would have become more controlled ... Girl Band are good, but are both vocally less strong and poor technically!!! Bring back Bad Lashes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They were fab but the public vote killed them off as they usually do with girl groups.

I cannot believe that Bad Lashes were voted out. Their version is Wonder Wall was so good I could have cried. It seems to me that Cheryl votes out bands that are RIVALS to Girls Aloud who I personally believe are total rubbish compared to Bad Lashes.

I am FURIOUS that Bad Lashes has be voted out they were amazing singing Wounder Wall best i've heard. Girl Band has NO personality at all and Bad Lashes have such an edge to them and their harmoneys are great. Sorry girls really sad to see you go you deserved to go further than that you had so much pertential :) Dont give up though keep pushing on x

Thank goodness common sense prevailed. I have never heard an act so bad and its only right they were first to go. They look like lovely girls, but they are not good singers and as a group they were so out of tune I wondered how on earth they made it to the final. At the end of the day this is a TALENT show!
