I just heard Mariah's performance again. Frankly, her voice still always impresses me, even when the performance is not as good as you expect. But on a "Mariah scale" it's just average - not her best - and just not what we expected.

And dear Erica. Most people have not been saying that Mariah CAN'T SING, we're just saying that performance was not so impressive, probably because she's sung that song so many times, that she's now trying too hard to make it different to her ears so that she could bare singing it agian. She might be bored with it by now - give her a break! Of course, I'm not sure that this is the reason. I LOVE that song - but that performance didn't blow me away. It was average and annoying to me.

I agree that the finalists did a better job with that song, this time round. It was like she was bored with singing it the way it's originally sung on the album, and she was trying too hard to ad-lib her way through it in a new, but kind of irritating way! I've always admired Mariah for her vocal abilities, but sometimes her ad-libbing is just too much and not even very melodical. Her voice seems to be in a rush to jump all over the place in this song, except where we expect it to land.

i agree i didn't like the way she sung it but, at leat she didn't lip sing like most artists do these days. x

i think hero is one of the best song in the world but i am really sorry to say but i didnt like the way she sang it it was terrible i think she should of sang it like the way the fianlist sang it becas eit was the coolest of all and i really didnt like the endig when she said u, u u u u it was annoying sorry mariah xxxx

Thank Heaven it wasn't just me that thought Mariah was so awful performing "HERO" on Saturday! I thought she was totally off key & showed no expression what so ever, nor feeling! The most moving thing was her hair in the breeze! I'm not saying she isn't usually a good artist & performer, but on this occasion, the X Factor contestants, out-shone her.... especially AUSTIN, (even though we hardly saw him!), his voice will always shine through! AUSTIN & LAURA are stars! NOTHING MAKES SENSE X FACTOR!

I think mariah is brilliant and i have always loved the song but... :( im sorry to say i didnt like it on the show it didnt do her any favours she seemed to be all over the place with her voice... but i do love her music and her voice but as i said .. not her best (sorry mariah) xxx

Omgoodness. she has got such a good voice; she tried too hard to sing tht different. the finalists were even better than her. this competetion is fix i think, 3 in a row shock vote offs. The judges are stupidd. and so all those people voting for rachel and daniel. All my faves ave gone; scott, AUSTIN and laura. i hope jls win. xD Lovethem esp aston. :)

Mariah gave a very poor performance on the night. I swear she has had too much botox cos there was no expression on her face at all. She did not connect to the contestants when she spoke to them. I don't rate Mariah Carey, never have. Mariah and disco weeks have been the weakest yet. Was very dissapointed with this weeks show and totally shocked at losing Laura.
